The Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen soft opened this past weekend with it’s official grand opening on December 16. The restaurant is styled after the nearby Jungl Cruise attraction and features a hodge podge of cuisines from Asia, South America, and Africa. The menu includes steak, arenas, chocolate cake, a rice noodle bowl and more. The chocolate cake is dubbed Kungaloosh, which is a hat tip to the Adventurers Club that once operated in Downtown Disney. There are also speciality drinks of the non-alcoholic variety.

Dining Spotlight – Raglan Road

Sitting in the heart of Downtown Disney or if you prefer, Disney Springs, is Raglan Road. This is my personal favorite place to eat in all of Walt Disney World. You can often get in at lunch without having to have a reservation, though it does help. At dinner time though it is highly recommended, because they stay busy. As a side note, if you or someone in your group has special diet needs, most likely Raglan Road can accomidate you. They have multiple dedicated fryers and stations to deal with assorted allergies. This is great for me because I’m Celiac (no gluten) and allergic to dairy and soy. There is live entertainment with Irish Dancers performing about every hour and in the evening they also have live music performing on and off thru the evening. Also to note, around the side you’ll find Cooke’s of Dublin, which is a quick service Fish and Chips to go. Great for when you want some Raglan Road, but don’t have or don’t want to take the time to sit down.

Tip Day Thursday – ADRs

Well before MyMagic+ added FastPass+ selections into the pre-trip planning, advance dining reservations were already there. Now though, they are tied into My Disney Experience both in making and viewing them, at least for Walt Disney World. While many of things we’re going to cover apply to getting an ADR whereever, it’s important to note a difference in how far out you can make them. Disneyland allows yo to make an ADR upto 60 days in advance. Walt Disney World allows upto 180 days in advance of your arrival date if you are staying at a Disney Resort.

Tip Day Thursday – The Disney Dining Plan

The Disney Dining Plan is one of the most popular offerings Disney has, and can be obtained with a Magic Your Way Package. It is also offered occasionally in special promotions for free dining, which when they do happen, they go fast. With several tiers with a variety of options, it’s quite likely they have at least one that appeals to you. The basic gist is you pay Disney the amount of the plan and you get a variety of credits that can be used at a variety of Table Service, Quick Service, and Snack Kiosks all over the parks and resorts. Though some things are not covered, such as alcoholic beverages and tips. Speaking of tips if you have a party of 6 or more, you will automatically be charged an 18% tip. They can add the automatic tip if you order things not covered on the plan as well, like an alcoholic drink. Also worth a note is some Table Service places cost more credits than others, and excluding Cinderella’s Royal Table, photos are not included.

Dine And Dasher Arrested

WKMG in Orlando is reporting Orange County Police have arrested Jerry Moody, 51, for serial dine-and-dashing at the Contemporary resort. He’s charged with defrauding an innkeeper and trespassing on property after a warning after trying to skip out on about a $90 bill from The Wave Restaurant. The night before he had skipped out on a bill at the Polynessian. Moody admitted to dine-and-dashing since 2005 and has been arrested multiple times. Even though he’s banned from various shops and restaurants on Disney, he would still sneak in. He also did not limit his antics to Disney, pulling the same stunt over around International Drive.
