The Force Awakens.
Ready Are You?
Wanting to watch The Force Awakens at home and save a few bucks? Well if you live in Canada, you’ll be able to watch it on Netflix about 8 months after it’s release and leaves the theaters. Disney’s deal with Netflix for Canada includes it’s 2015 movies, however, those of us in the USA are not covered by the deal til 2016 so we wont be getting to watch it that way, Starz has the Pay-TV rights for Disney movies thru the end of the year in the USA so that will be where it will land first here.
Disney has announced that the popular Jedi Training Academy will close October 4, 2015. It will reopen sometime in December of this year as Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, featuring characters from the Star Wars: Rebels Disney XD Series.
Also on deck over in Disneyland, Seasons of the Force will kick off November 16. It will also feature the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple as well as a host of other activities. Those include: Tommorowland getting a temporary Star Wars makeover, The Tomorrowland Theater showing scenes from the Star Wars Movies, Space Mountain will be redubbed Hyperspace Mountain with riders zooming thru an X-Wing battle, Star Tours will begin featuring scenes from The Force Awakens in it’s possible scenarios, and finally Innoventions will turn into the Star Wars Launch Bay. The Launch Bay will feature meet and greets from Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and more as well as exhibits of ships and props from The Force Awakens. Also in the LAunch Bay will be Light and Dark Side galleries featuring things like lightsabers, stormtrooper armor, etc.
Okay a few things one, I love the Muppets. I’ve been so happy to see them make a comeback in the last few years. I grew up with Muppet Babies being one of my staple cartoons as a kid. I’m thrilled they will be on TV every week (well more or less minus every TV show’s holiday breaks, etc). In fact the show kicks off in just a few weeks on September 22, at 8 PM. Honestly I’m more interested in watching it than I am Marvel’s Agents of Shield this year. But I have a gripe. Last month, they announced Kermit an Piggy breaking up and I was like “huh?” But now they are intruducing a new girlfriend, a younger pig muppet??!? Say it ain’t so, they aren’t seriously going to have Kermit The Frog, the Muppets Mickey Mouse, look like he ditched Miss Piggy for someone younger?!? I’m seriously hoping it’s just one of their wacky jokes, or an extremely short-lived story and not going to turn into one of the main recurring plots. Come On Disney…let’s hear the Wocka Wocka and drop this idea. Just my two cents, though I’d love to hear your opinion.
Marvel announced they will be releasing new shows on Netflix every six months with the cycle starting this past April with Daredevil. Next up before the end of the year will be Jessica Jones, followed by Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Once all four are up and going they will be pulled into another show, Defenders. As we’ve seen with Daredevil, the TV side is liable to be a lot darker than the movie side has been. Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter from Don’t Tell the B In Apartment 23, will be the first big character role with super powers as a Marvel Studios project. Agent Carter and Black Widow don’t have super powers and Captain Marvel wont be out till 2018.
Amy Mason will be joining the cast of Once Upon A Time this season as Disney/Pixar’s Merida. It was announced yesterday at the San Diego Comic Con in this teaser promo. Currently not much is known as to her specific role in the season, premiering September 27, on ABC. What is known is a loty of the focus this season will be in trying to find Merlin in order to save Emma, who at the end of last season became the Dark One to save Regina. The other promos can be viewed here and here about Emma. From the looks of it Emma might end up making Rumple look like a fairly decent guy.
