Disney Releases Their Own IOS GIF and Keyboard App

While the ability to load your own keyboard app has been out for awhile on IOS, Disney has just released their own. Requires IOS 8.2 or higher, Disney GIF, released featuring over 200 GIFs with more on the way. Basically the app is a keyboard extension allowing you to send these GIFs, and future ones, out on text messages, emails, etc. While Disney has offering of these on other third-party keyboard extensions, this is the first Disney exclusive app. It features Frozen, Star Wars, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, and more. The catch is right now each category feels a bit limited, for instance Star Wars only has 12 items. Similar to the Disney Side app, Disney needs to pump more options into the app to make it feel complete, but if they do this will become a great resource for those that love to use Emoticons and want to use Disney ones. The app will offer in-app purchases for premium packs, currently a couple from Frozen. You can browse by Emoticon, Disney Film/Show, or what’s trending. The app itself is free and available on iTunes.

Epcot News Update

Besides the previously mentioned Selfie Stick Ban, some news for Epcot also popped up today. Captain EO will return to the schedule starting July 19. The short si-fi movie featuring Michael Jackson premiered in 1986 where it ran until 1997, returning again in 2010 after Jackson’s death running until recently. It was swapped out in April for a preview of the Disney movie Tomorrowland, followed by a preview for the Disney/Pixar movie Inside Out.

Also coming soon, perhaps as early as next week, the Innoventions West corridor will be turned into a new relaxation area. Expect to see charging stations, food & drink carts, and some new seating soon. Disney has dubbed these areas D-Zones, first using the concept in the Magic Kingdom for the Tangled themed restroom area. This will provide another area for guests to take a break, get out of the heat, and relax before continuing on their way. This area has always been popular to take a break, however, it’s never had the seating to really accommodate that many people to do so, unless they wanted to sit on the floor.

And finally, Epcot fireworks show time was changed to 10PM on July 4th.
