Rope Drop Change In Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom has started having to have Cast Members walk crowds in with a rope across Main Street USA to keep things orderly for Rope Drop. It’s not the first time Disney has had to do such, they did this to help with the rush to Sarin’ in Epcot and Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios. So you may be wondering what could suddenly generate the need for this in the Magic Kingdom? New Fantasyland, with the exception of new Mine Train, has been open for a while now. Is the Mine Train causing the surge? Nope, it’s Frozen still going strong. With limits on how many items are available and how many one person can buy the stores are getting swamped to get those hard to find items. Whether it for themselves, a child, or to put up on Ebay at some mark up the shops are getting hammered by crowds hunting Frozen merchandise. Add to this that Anna and Elsa are in the Princess Fairytale Hall these days and still drawing huge crowds, and some of the people are trying to get an early jump on the New Mine Train attraction and Rope Drop has been hopping. As far as Anna and Elsa’s meet and greet, I personally still think they should have put them in by Mickey where the princess used to meet as there was more space than at the Fairytale Hall. But I suppose they were worried about creating a bottleneck at the front of the park if the line went out the door.
Disney is changing up the tier choices for Epcot and Hollywood Studios starting June 16, however, chances are good it wont affect your FastPass+ planning. At Epcot Lining With The Land is being bumped to Tier1…seriously they think it will get picked over Soarin’ and Test Track? Taking it’s spot on the Tier 2 level is Maelstrom and the Character Spot. Over at the Studios they are simply adding The Great Movie Ride to Tier 1, which if you are going to pick a ride out of that tier….odds are its Toy Story Mania or Rockin’ RollerCoaster. Probably Toy Story Mania. Remember Tier 1 is a choose 1 event/attraction and Tier 2 is choose 2 events/attractions). Also remember once you’ve used those three you can pick another, use it, pick another, etc.
While working on the set of Episode VII, Harrison Ford hurt his ankle. Disney says shooting for the movie will continue as planned and he had been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
E3 saw the release of an early video on the Coming EA/DICE Star Wars Battlefront game coming out in 2015. The images they showed look good, hopefully this one wont get dropped into oblivion. They haven’t released much information yet, and don’t plane to until 2015 ahead of the release. http://dice.se/games/star-wars-battlefront/
Several weeks ago Disney launched a trailer focusing on the Avengers and Marvel coming to Infinity 2.0. The trailer also shows Maleficent, Merida, and Stitch along with a few of the characters already out for Infinity. Since then Disney has confirmed Maleficent and Merida are coming to 2.0. I’m personally hoping for Stitch, but as you can probably guess he’s my favorite. At E3 Disney has announced several more characters from Marvel, showed off some Darkwing Duck power Discs (please please let that mean we’ll get a Darkwing character down the road). From Marvel Spider Man is getting a playset. Spider Man, Venom, Iron Fist, Nova, Nick Fury were shown off. Another trailer Shows Spidey chasing the Green Goblin so he’ll likely get a figure at some point.
This Week Dreamfinder and Figment appear in Issue 1 of their new comic series published by Marvel. I’ve not had a chance to read it yet but will post more about after I have.
Funco has announced they will be releasing characters from Frozen to their Vinyl Pop! line this July. Characters incled Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven.
